September... the month for events!
- Newsletter:
The month of September brings the riding community three amazing events that appeal to most mountain bikers.
The first event on September 9th comes the all encompassing Project 9 - $9 Race. A true treat for the purest of all mountain biking, this race has three elements. One, race uphill, two, race downhill, three, compete for the overall title of combined times. This is a true all mountain race. Tons of enjoyment was had by last year’s race crew.
Take the next two weeks off to recover for the Dirt Diggler DH Fall Classic on Sept. 20th. The Diggler, coined by the man himself, Dirty D, has every element of big mountain riding you can imagine, perfect ridgeline views, intense steeps, rocks, loose exposed side hill, and “The Black Lung” to claim you, what dreams are made of. The perfect long big mountain DH race, you won’t find many other courses more challenging, fun or more trail work invested than this in the world. If you enjoy the big bike pleasures the Diggler is for you.

Alright quickly, lube your chain, change the helmet, chamois and prepare yourself mentally for the season ender…The High Roller Mountain Bike Ride (Sept. 27th) is a triple-crown of Fernie’s best big rides with a poker ride element thrown in just for fun and swag. This in NOT a race, but a big ride to challenge yourself, be social, simply have fun and spend the day riding your bike, you deserve it! Trust me you can do it. This years route will include Big $, Hyperventilation, and "S Bomb". After the ride indulge yourself in a professionally catered BBQ and play poker for sweet prizes (last year everybody got one), and some great tales of the day’s trails.

It’s a pleasure to have these events in Fernie, establishing it as the capital of the Kootenays for mountain biking. This past season saw the trails being manicured by our professional trail crew; volunteers were around more than last year. It was great to see the community get back into pedaling bikes and experience the world class single-track we have right out of our doorsteps.
Thanks to all the dedicated volunteers and businesses we have in our community that keep mountain biking smooth for the rest of us. Remember that when you smile next because you had a great time on some local single-track.
Volunteers are needed for all three events. Please feel free to ask any questions or give comments and donations at directors@bikefernie.ca
Dirt Needed!!!
We need dirt to build the dirt jump park! If you can help please contact us at directors@bikefernie.ca
