Dirty Diggs Ride #1

Riding Ridgemont is great for an after-work kick, but if you want to experience an alpine adventure, Morrissey Ridge is where to go.
With that in mind, we set out on an adventure.
The road was well. After reaching the summit in our trusty blue Ram, we looked out on a grand scene. the wind was howling off the ridgeline somethin' fierce and didn't let up. We found Dirty Diggs after glissading some distance along the ridge in a few feet of snow. finding the trailhead was ok, make sure you go north along the ridge from the towers for a few minutes. dropping in, I had no braking power and a chewed back wheel, lost it and my bike went darting off down the draw. Luckily my bro Scotty thought quick and used his own bike to stop the runaway Kona.
we decided to find a place to chill for a moment and regain some composure. it didn't really happen though, as we were both spooked by the off camber sidehill and the crazy winds. This trail is very tight at the top. Any mistake and you'll find yourself scrambling to stop from sliding down the whole freakin' mountainside. that's just what I did next, over the bars and flipped off the trail like a well done burger. NP. back into it I felt a little better, as we descended into the treeline the trail is a little more moderate, but not by much! We felt our way into the coal draw (so steep that the coal dust is avalanching alongside you) and down through the forest onto the road. coming down the road was fun with the small water bar jumps and fresh air. found the last section off the high road and droppped in. There was some flagging tape on a trail that is right on the corner before the drop in. A cow trail or the connector to 3 Kings? Not sure as we followed it for a bit and turned back.
This is one hell of a descent, you should ride a DH setup and all your armour. Next time I will bring some tools and spend sometime working on the trail. If we all did, the connector could be built up pretty quick.
I am going to ride this trail on Saturday mornings and I will meet up with you at Freshies by 10:30 am. Potential of taking up to 5 with me if someone drives me up after to get my ride.
